Job Description:
To deliver high-quality, patient-centred nursing care within an acute hospital setting, working as part of the multidisciplinary team to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care in accordance with the NMC Code and NHS policies.
Key Responsibilities:
Clinical Practice
* Deliver safe, evidence-based nursing care to a defined group of patients.
* Undertake comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized care plans.
* Administer medications and IV therapies in accordance with Trust policy and NMC standards.
* Recognise and respond appropriately to patient deterioration, escalating concerns as required.
* Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical documentation (electronic and paper-based).
* Support discharge planning and continuity of care.
Patient Safety & Governance
* Adhere to infection prevention and control policies.
* Comply with safeguarding procedures for adults and children.
* Participate in incident reporting, risk assessment, and clinical audits.
* Maintain confidentiality in line with GDPR and Trust information governance standards.
Communication & Teamwork
* Work collaboratively within the multidisciplinary team (MDT).
* Provide clear, compassionate communication to patients and relatives.
* Supervise and support Healthcare Assistants and student nurses.
* Participate in handovers, ward rounds, and case discussions.
Essential Criteria
* Registered Nurse (Adult) with valid NMC registration.
* Evidence of continuous professional development (CPD).
* Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced acute environment.
* Competence in medication administration and clinical skills.
* Strong communication and documentation skills.
Desirable Criteria
* Previous NHS hospital experience of at least 6 months.
* Experience in relevant specialty (e.g., Medical, Surgical, A&E, ICU, Paediatrics).
* Knowledge of clinical governance and quality improvement frameworks.
