Job Title: Waste and Recycling Operative
Location: Commercial Waste Sites (YO10 3DG & YO32 9ST)
Hours:
- Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday: 8:00am - 4:00pm
- Wednesday: Closed
- Rota will be discussed on interview / site tour
- Weekend working is mandatory
Pay & Benefits:
- £12.70 per hour
- £20 bonus for each Sunday worked
- £30 bonus for each bank holiday worked
- PPE provided
Role Overview:
The Waste and Recycling Operative supports daily operations across two commercial waste sites, performing manual labour tasks working outdoors, you will be assisting the public with unloading and sorting waste, conducting waste checks, and coordinating the collection of full skips.
Key Responsibilities:
- Greet and assist customers, providing guidance on waste disposal
- Unload waste and electrical items from vehicles
- Carry out manual labouring tasks, including lifting, moving, and sorting waste
- Ensure correct sorting of items into designated containers (electrical, general waste, metal, glass, etc.)
- Work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Conduct waste checks to ensure compliance and prevent contamination
- Organise the collection of skips when full, liaising with relevant providers
- Maintain site cleanliness and safety in line with operational standards
- Provide information about recycling options and site procedures
- Report hazards or incidents to the site supervisor
- Travel between both sites as required
Requirements: YO32 9ST
- Own transport and valid driver's licence (essential, for travel betweenYO10 3DG Hazel Court & YO32 9ST Towthorpe)
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Physically able to handle manual tasks and work outdoors year-round
- Attention to detail for accurate segregation and compliance
- Reliable and available for mandatory weekend work
- Previous waste management, labouring, or customer service experience advantageous, but not essential
