What will be your primary role?
The duties of this position includes installing, maintaining, repairing and replacing electrical systems such as panels, services and various power sources. Additionally, modifies loads, and carries out inspection and testing of new and existing electrical lines, circuits, systems, fixtures, panels, switches, breakers, and controls located in and near installation buildings and structures. Troubleshoot problem areas and tests for defective equipment and faulty wiring. Working from building plans, blueprints, wiring diagrams, engineering drawings, and maintenance and repair manuals to determine the necessary and proper repairs and/or replacements. Use and maintain various types of hand and/or power tools. Utilizes safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work environment. Maintains records and documents actions.
Qualification requirements:
• Must possess a City & Guilds/ NVQ level 3 Award in the requirements electrical installations BS 7671 18th Edition Regulation
• Must also possess a City and Guilds/NVQ Level 3 Award in an appropriate discipline, i.e Inspection, Testing & Certification of Electrical Installations City & Guilds 2391.

What are the Key Skills required for this role?
1. Knowledge of safety regulations, practices, and procedures.
2. Knowledge of technical practices in order to plan, lay out, install, modify, troubleshoot, and repair and inspect and test a variety of complete systems.
3. Knowledge of electrical and electronic theory and instruments used in shop and trade practices, and of electrical equipment, i.e., test lamps, multimeters, circuit analyzers, circuit breaker testers, voltage recording meters, meggers, wattmeters, ohmeters, and ammeters.
4. Skill in using and maintaining hand tools such as, screwdrivers, pliers, wirecutters, strippers, cable pullers, drills, soldering irons, and manual or power conduit benders and threaders.
5. Skill in troubleshooting and tracing hard-to-locate defects or problems.
6. Ability to use electrical drawings, blueprints, engineering drawings, and wiring diagrams and to install, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain various electrical systems, controls, and equipment without more than normal supervision.
What are the conditions of employment for this role?
1. You will be required to handle and safeguard sensitive information in accordance with applicable US and UK laws, rules and regulations.
2. You may be required to travel by military and/or civilian aircraft and you may also be required to travel to the US or other country, in the performance of official duties or attend necessary training, this position may also be coded as mission essential.
3. You will be required to complete a 6-month probationary period.
4. Overtime may be required.
5. You may be assigned other duties not included in this position description, but that are appropriate to the grade and skill set of the incumbent.
6. Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
7. Emergency overtime may be required.
8. May work with hazardous materials such as asbestos or accumulated waste.
9. Employee will be required to wear protective clothing and gear on these occasions.
10. Position requires the ability to discern colors, contrast, and depth. A pre-employment is required for this position, this will be conducted at RAF Lakenheath.
11. It is required to possess a valid CAT B UK driving license in order to drive a motor vehicle to and from work sites.
12. The incumbent will be expected to obtain ATEX/DSEAR internal and external training certification within one year.
13 First aid training for electric shock and fire safety training is required.
14. Your hours of work will be 15 hours per week on a Fixed Schedule where start & end times may be modified due to mission needs and in accordance with the organization’s flexible working policies
