The Role
A Children’s Social Worker is required to join the Assessment Team in the South of Powys (despite the JD referencing North). The postholder will undertake statutory assessments, manage safeguarding concerns and work directly with children and families across a wide geographical area. This role requires strong analytical skills, confident decision‑making and the ability to work independently in a rural authority with significant travel requirements.

Lead and contribute to Section 47 enquiries and safeguarding processes.

Undertake direct work with children and families to understand lived experience.

Apply legislation, thresholds and guidance confidently and consistently.

Maintain accurate, timely case records and documentation.

Manage a varied and fast‑paced caseload within the Assessment Team.

Travel across the South Powys region as required.

Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Care Wales registration.

Strong experience in children’s safeguarding and assessment work.

Confident in Section 47 enquiries and risk analysis.

Ability to work independently across a large rural area.
