Summary
Neway International are seeking a Registered Social Worker to join our client based with Monmouthshire County Council.
Location: County Hall, Usk, Monmouthshire, NP15 1GA
Hours: 37 per week

Pay Rate: £29.24 PAYE per hour / £39.32 Umbrella per hour
Work Pattern: Hybrid – minimum 3 days per week in the office and across the Monmouthshire area
About the Client
Monmouthshire County Council’s Children’s Services team provides high‑quality, relationship‑based support to children and families across the region. The service is known for its friendly, supportive environment and commitment to safe, effective practice.
The Role
A Registered Social Worker is required to provide maternity leave cover within Children’s Services. The postholder will manage a varied caseload, undertake statutory assessments and contribute to court proceedings. This role requires strong safeguarding experience, confident decision‑making and the ability to work effectively within a fast‑paced frontline service.
Key Responsibilities
Manage cases involving Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children.
Undertake high‑quality assessments and direct work with children and families.
Prepare clear, evidence‑based reports for court, including statements and care plans.
Attend and contribute to court proceedings, PLO processes and multi‑agency meetings.
Maintain accurate, timely case records in line with legislation and policy.
Participate in duty rota, attending the office a minimum of three days per week.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support safe and effective planning.
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Care Wales / Social Work England registration.
Minimum 4 years post‑qualification experience.
Recent experience of court work and PLO processes.
Strong safeguarding, assessment and report‑writing skills.
Must live within 1 hour of NP15 1GA (unless relocating for personal reasons).
Full compliance documentation required.
