Job Title: Duty Senior Clinician

Band: 8A

Location: Integrated Contact Centres

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Duty Senior Clinician within NWAS Integrated Contact Centres. Candidates are required to be highly experienced and credible clinicians.

While on duty, the Duty Senior Clinician will be the senior clinician responsible for clinical effectiveness and safety of patient care within the Integrated Contact Centre and service delivery environment. This includes overall responsibility for clinicians undertaking clinical navigation and clinical validation roles, and the co-ordination of ICC resources to effectively manage demand. You will ensure that ICC is dynamic and responsive to the daily challenges the trust faces, implementing appropriate actions as part of, and outside of the Clinical Safety Plan. As Duty Senior Clinician, you will act as a point of escalation for clinical advice for service delivery where appropriate.

The Duty Senior Clinician will receive direction from, and be accountable to, the ICC Consultant Practitioners, Heads of Service lines and Assistant Director. You will be expected to respond to 999, 111 and PTS demand appropriately, optimally using all members of staff, clinical resource and agreed clinical interventions as appropriate. They will provide necessary assurance that the ICC is clinically safe and effective, escalating any concerns as required.

The post holder is an experienced Paramedic or Nurse, who acting within their professional boundaries will provide enhanced clinical decision making to support clinical effectiveness and safety of patient care within the Integrated Contact Centre and service delivery environment. You will ensure the delivery of excellent patient care through the continuous achievement of clinical standards. You will work autonomously and support patients within our community.

North West Ambulance Service NHS Trust provides 24 hour, 365 days a year accident and emergency services to those in need of emergency medical treatment and transport.

Our highly skilled staff provide life-saving care to patients in the community and take people to hospital or a place of care if needed.
We also provide non-emergency patient transport services for those patients who require non-emergency transport to and from hospital and who are unable to travel unaided because of their medical condition or clinical need.

Alongside the other emergency services, we also work to ensure the safety of the public and treatment of patients in the event of a major incident.

We also deliver the NHS 111 service in the North West. NHS 111 replaced NHS Direct in 2013. This service was introduced to make it easier for people to access local NHS healthcare services in England. It provides non-emergency medical help fast, and is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
