Summary
Neway International are seeking a Social Worker (Children’s Services) to join our client based with Caerphilly County Borough Council.
Location: Ty Penallta, Penallta House, Tredomen Business Park, Hengoed, CF82 7PG
Hours: 37 per week
Start Date: 02/03/2026
Work Pattern: Mixed rota pattern; office attendance may be required daily depending on service needs
Pay Rate: £216.82 PAYE per day / £287.23 Umbrella per day

About the Client
Caerphilly County Borough Council’s Children’s Services team provides high‑quality safeguarding and family support across the region. Their focus is on delivering safe, effective and child‑centred practice, ensuring children and families receive timely and appropriate intervention.
The Role
A Children’s Social Worker is required to provide maternity leave cover within the Children’s Services team. The postholder will manage a varied caseload, undertake statutory assessments and deliver safeguarding interventions in line with legislation, policy and best practice. The role requires strong communication skills, effective multi‑agency working and the ability to respond flexibly to a changing rota pattern.
Key Responsibilities
Undertake Child and Family Assessments and ensure timely, evidence‑based decision‑making.
Manage cases involving Child in Need, Child Protection and Looked After Children.
Carry out Section 47 enquiries and contribute to multi‑agency safeguarding processes.
Prepare clear, accurate reports for meetings, reviews and legal processes.
Undertake regular home visits and direct work with children and families.
Work collaboratively with partner agencies to support safe and effective planning.
Maintain accurate, up‑to‑date case records in line with statutory requirements.
Respond flexibly to rota‑based office attendance requirements.
Candidate Requirements
Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England / Social Care Wales registration.
Experience in statutory children’s social care, including safeguarding and assessment.
Strong analytical, communication and report‑writing skills.
Ability to work flexibly within a rota‑based service.
Full compliance documentation required.
