Production Operative / CNC Operator - Manufacture Assistant – Based in Bolton
As a rapidly expanding small family run company, we require a multi-skilled worker to work efficiently on the shop floor. Our factory is purpose built for the manufacture of bespoke timber handrails for luxury homes and commercial environments – every one of our projects is tailor made to the customer’s requirements and it is critical that standards are never compromised
The successful candidate will be responsible for a range of activities:
• Material preparation – using various saws, planers and other machinery to cut materials to size prior machining/manufacturing.
• Loading & Unloading the CNC router – using air powered tools to quickly and accurately load the machine bed as we produce handrails on the left and right hand sides simultaneously.
• Operating the 5 axis CNC router – loading pre-defined programs and manually operating speeds, feeds etc
• Assembling products – using hand tools and basic joinery techniques to assemble and pre-build our products before dispatch
• Hand finishing – Using machines and hand tools to finish both metal and timber products.
• Other Duties – General workshop duties, troubleshooting mechanical issues, taking charge of deliveries, quality control, tooling re-grind requirements, setting up and using JIGs etc.
Skills:
• Candidates should have some experience in the woodworking industry.
• Proven troubleshooting ability
• Knowledge of tooling and/or CNCs preferable, but not essential
• Knowledge of spraying/spray booth operation preferable, but not essential
• Ability to work on your own initiative
• Attention to detail and an eye for quality standards
• Excellent time management
Education:
• GSCE level in Maths Science & English
• Vocational courses / apprenticeships in relevant field preferable
Contractual:
• 40 hours per week, Mon-Fri with breaks and lunch
• Overtime and split shift work likely in future
• Hourly wage dependent on experience, plus overtime and perks
• Paid overtime & split shift opportunities likely
