Summary

Textiles Technician
Salary: £26,403-£27,694 per annum, pro rata (Grade 4, SCP 7-10)
Actual salary: £15,327-£16,077 per annumWorking hours: 25 hours per week during term time only plus 5 INSET days. Hours of work will be discussed with candidates during the interview process.

The RoleHayesfield Girls' School is seeking to appoint a skilled and organised Textiles Technician to provide essential technical and administrative support to our vibrant Textiles department. This role is pivotal in supporting students across all year groups.
The key responsibilities are:
Technical Support: Prepare classrooms, materials, and equipment for practical lessons, ensuring a safe and productive environment for staff and pupils.
Equipment Maintenance: Carry out functional checks and basic maintenance of equipment, with a particular focus on sewing machines and CAD/CAM technology.
Student Supervision: Demonstrate technical techniques and supervise students during practical activities as directed by teaching staff.
Health & Safety: Act as the lead for workspace safety, managing the storage and disposal of hazardous materials (COSHH) and ensuring compliance with all health and safety regulations.
Event Coordination: Provide vital support in the organisation and display of student work for the annual Design and Technology celebration event.
Requirements
Essential Requirements
Technical Expertise: Proven experience in professional-level Fashion and Textiles production, including pattern cutting, grading, embellishment, tailoring, and dye work.
Qualifications: Minimum of 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) including English, Maths, and Textiles.
Practical Skills: High level of confidence in using technical workshop equipment and CAD/CAM software.
Communication: Strong interpersonal skills to effectively advise staff and assist students.
IT Literacy: Proficiency in Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Desirable Requirements
Experience working within a school environment or the fashion industry.
Knowledge of current Health & Safety regulations and COSHH guidelines.
A passion for 21st-century textiles technology and a willingness to support extra-curricular activities and school trips.
