Summary


Do you have an interest in nutrition and helping people? We are looking for an individual to join our team in supporting the community dietitian to provide a dietetic service to support the nutritional needs of our community patients.

This role will involve reviewing patients over the telephone and in a face-to-face clinic; working directly with patients, healthcare professionals and the community dietitian.

An interest in nutrition and supporting patients in the community is required. Personal attributes required include being organised, flexible and good communication skills.

There are many Dietetic Assistants employed within the Trust that you will be able to liaise with and work with, in addition to the support you will receive from the community dietitian.

The role is based within our friendly department of nutrition and dietetics at Southend Hospital.

The main duties of the job include:
• To assist the community dietitian in completing general administrative tasks which will include registering or amending patient registrations on the Fresenius Kabi patient portal for enterally fed patients, keeping track of feeding pumps given to patients, stock control, data input and letters.
• To assist the community dietitian to enable patients to be discharged back to their GP promptly; this could include providing written patient information.
• Support the community dietitian to facilitate a seamless transfer of care between acute and community settings by continuing strong communication links with the hospital dietetic team.
• Participate in project work and be involved with education and training.
• After adequate training, you will support the community dietitian in delivering aspects of dietetic care by reviewing the dietetic plans that have been previously implemented by the Dietitian and feeding back to the Dietitian.
• Admin tasks will also include booking appointments, managing caseload, letters, ordering nutritional supplements and equipment, prescription requests and sample service requests.
• After adequate training dietetic tasks will include calculating patients’ nutritional intake and the use of anthropometric measures.
