Managerial Have 24-hour continuing responsibility for the ward and ensure that Trust Policies and Procedures are implemented. Exercise leadership, providing support and guidance where necessary to all healthcare professionals within the maternity team. In conjunction with the multidisciplinary team, produce and monitor standards of care for the specialty. Leadership To empower staff to create an environment, which is challenging, stimulating and supportive to individuals, promoting lifelong learning in the improvement of women centred care. To be visible and accessible to staff, women and their families. Clinical Ensure high quality, evidence based care is offered to women and babies, in collaboration with the senior leadership team. To identify the common issues which affect the quality of care devising clear action plans to address any shortcomings ensuring agreed action is undertaken. Governance Investigate accidents and other untoward occurrences concerning women, relatives, visitors or staff that arise on the ward/department, reporting and recording accurately as required, according to agreed policies. Completion and monitoring of action plans and sharing learning from incidents. User Experience Be an effective leader and role model and will have a particular responsibility to ensure that women are involved in their care, are able to feedback and see improvements made as a result. Educational To be responsible for creating and maintaining a learning environment. To support education and staff development through induction programmes for new staff, preceptorship and mandatory training. To monitor staff learning and development. Knowledge and Communication Contribute towards maintaining an environment conducive to learning and development.
