Summary
We’re seeking someone with a passion for the outdoors and enthusiasm for getting people cycling. You’ll bring excellent customer service skills and ideally some experience in active outdoor environments. Confidence around bikes and a willingness to learn basic maintenance are important. You’ll enjoy working with visitors of all ages and abilities, giving clear instructions, and working as part of a supportive team. Good organisation, communication, and basic IT skills will help you thrive in this role.
For this role, you’ll need to complete our online assessment instead of using a C.V. or online application form. This will help us understand more about your strengths and give you more information on the role.
What it's like to work here
Wallington is a much‑loved National Trust place, and as part of the Visitor Experience team you’ll help visitors enjoy the estate through high‑quality cycling experiences. You’ll work alongside friendly colleagues and volunteers in a busy, visitor‑focused environment where no two days are the same.
You’ll champion great service, support our conservation purpose, and help ensure our cycling offer is welcoming, accessible, and safe for everyone.
What you'll be doing
As a Cycle Hire Assistant, you will play an active role in helping visitors enjoy their day at Wallington. Each day, you will answer people’s questions, talk to them about their plans, and advise them on which cycling trails will suit their abilities and interests. You will listen carefully to what they need so you can give them accurate information and help them have the best possible experience.
Your work will involve preparing, maintaining, and hiring out bikes and equipment, ensuring everything is safe, clean, and ready to use. You will support volunteers and colleagues, follow safe working practices, and help manage outdoor risks. You will share key messages with visitors, promote our cycling offer, and encourage people to explore the estate. In addition, you will help with cash handling and contribute to meeting income and participation targets.
