Job description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen at Jigsaw Pre-School in Needham Market for a deputy manager to join our team for 3 days per week (on a job share basis).
You will be working closely with the setting manager and deputy manager to ensure the smooth running of the setting.
Main responsibilities of the role include:
Providing high-quality care and education in line with the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework.
Creating a safe, stimulating, and inclusive environment for all children.
Observe, assess, and plan appropriate activities to promote each child’s development.
Working collaboratively with a team of practitioners to maintain high standards of care.
Developing and maintaining positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
Ensuring health and safety guidelines are followed at all times.
Supporting children’s emotional, physical, and social development through a range of engaging activities
Supporting the setting manager with the day to day running of the setting, working directly with the children and other staff members.
Supporting less experienced staff with understanding of policies, procedures, EYFS etc
Be able to lead a small team of staff, delegating roles where required.
What we require:
Level 3 Early Years Qualification (e.g., NVQ, CACHE, or equivalent).
Strong knowledge of the EYFS framework and ofsted.
Previous experience working in a nursery or early years setting ideally with some experience working within a leadership role eg room leader / deputy etc
A passion for early childhood education and development.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to work as part of a team.
A caring, patient, and enthusiastic attitude.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
Paediatric First Aid and Safeguarding training
Support the Manager in overseeing daily operations and ensuring compliance with EYFS, safeguarding, and health & safety standards
The ability to lead and supervise the staff team, providing guidance & mentoring.
Maintain a safe, stimulating, and inclusive learning environment
Oversee planning and implementation of age-appropriate activities aligned with the EYFS framework
Build strong relationships with children, parents, and carers to support each child’s individual development
Manage administrative duties including learning journeys
Step into the Manager role in their absence to ensure smooth running of the pre-school
Work collaboratively with external agencies and professionals
This role is suitable for an experienced deputy manager or someone who is looking to expand their skillset into the deputy role (training will be provided), please note that a full and relevant childcare qualification is essential.
Rate of pay : £13.59 per hour
