Job Description
We are seeking a reliable and diligent Labourer to join a construction site team on a temporary basis. The role involves supporting site operations by performing a variety of manual tasks to assist skilled tradespeople and ensure smooth workflow. The successful candidate works full-time hours and contributes to maintaining a safe and efficient working environment.
Job Duties
• Assist with loading and unloading building materials, tools, and equipment on site.
• Prepare and clear construction sites, including removing debris and waste.
• Support tradespeople such as bricklayers, carpenters, and plumbers by providing necessary materials and tools.
• Operate basic hand tools and machinery safely in accordance with site regulations.
• Mix and pour concrete or mortar under supervision.
• Carry out site cleaning duties to maintain a tidy and hazard-free environment.
• Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure personal safety and that of others on site.
• Report any hazards or incidents promptly to the site supervisor.
• Assist with traffic management or pedestrian control if required.
• Comply with environmental and waste disposal procedures.
Required Qualifications
• Basic literacy and numeracy skills.
• Awareness of health and safety practises relevant to construction sites.
• Physical fitness and the ability to carry out manual tasks for extended periods.
• Ability to follow instructions accurately and work as part of a team.
Experience
• Previous experience in a labouring role within the construction industry is desirable but not essential.
• Experience working on construction sites following health and safety procedures is beneficial.
Knowledge and Skills
• Knowledge of common construction materials and basic site operations.
• Ability to use hand tools safely and effectively.
• Good communication skills to understand and follow instructions.
• Strong work ethic and reliability.
• Awareness of site safety regulations and personal protective equipment requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
• CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card or equivalent site safety certification.
Working Conditions
• This role requires working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Manual handling of materials and physical labour are a significant part of the job.
• Wearing personal protective equipment such as hard hats, steel-toe boots, and high-visibility clothing is mandatory.
• The role may involve working at heights or in confined spaces under supervision.
• Working hours are typically full-time, Monday to Friday, with possible overtime as required.
