Summary
You will put people at the heart of everything you do with a relentless focus on user experience and ensuring all our user needs are met across sites at Moorfields Eye Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. With the ever-increasing need and interest in the use of digital technology in healthcare, you will be part of a team of Digital, Data and Technology experts that delivers service improvements and keeps at the forefront of new technology. Your role will focus on implementing the trusts technology strategy rather than maintaining the existing operations. Whilst the technical architect is expected to be a highly technical individual with a strong background in designing and implementing technology, the role is distinct from a Lead Engineer as it has additional responsibilities for solution design and technical assurance of proposals from vendors. The team does not design solutions in isolation, as such the postholder will be expected and encouraged to maintain their practical technical skills but shift the focus of their hands-on work towards implementing proofs-of-concept, validating designs and proposals, and implementing new solutions rather than maintaining and supporting the existing solutions. This role will focus on Applications, Data, and Integration Architecture designing the workflows and connectivity between our systems, ensuring that our data is well-structured and highly available, and ensuring that our applications are maintainable and fulfil the organisations requirements. The postholder will be constantly working in partnership with architectural colleagues, vendors, programme teams, other clinical, technical, and operational colleagues to ensure that their vision and designs are successfully implemented. The majority of this role will focus on the key components of our EPR solution, including imaging systems, clinical noting systems, and patient administration systems. It will also spend some time on corporate systems, business intelligence, and smart buildings and estates. Direct experience with these areas is not essential, as long as the postholder is willing and able to learn.
