The Role
The School Admissions Officer will support the administration of nursery, primary, and secondary admissions, including in‑year applications and the Bexley Selection Test process. The role involves managing applications, maintaining accurate pupil data, liaising with schools and local authorities, and providing clear guidance to parents and Head Teachers. You will support appeals preparation, monitor children without school places, and ensure all statutory timescales are met.

Key Responsibilities
Administer annual admissions processes for nursery, primary, and secondary entry points.

Manage in‑year applications and ensure timely placement of pupils.

Provide accurate information and guidance to parents, schools, and Head Teachers.

Enter and maintain applicant data on the pupil database and produce reports as required.

Check eligibility for school places and monitor vacancies across schools.

Exchange admissions information with other local authorities and schools using secure systems.

Support the organisation and delivery of the Bexley Selection Test, including venues, materials, invigilation, and results.

Prepare documentation for admission appeals and present cases once trained.

Handle correspondence, interviews, and telephone enquiries regarding school admissions.

Maintain the school admissions webpages and promote online applications.

Monitor children without school places and make referrals under the Fair Access Protocol.

Support related areas such as free school meals, discretionary grants, and travel assistance when required.

Candidate Requirements
Strong administrative experience within education, local authority, or similar regulated environments.

Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear guidance to parents and schools.

Confident using databases, secure information exchange systems, and Microsoft Office.

Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, and statutory timescales.

Highly organised with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage competing deadlines.

Customer‑focused approach with experience handling complaints or complex enquiries.

Enhanced DBS required.
