Summary

We're looking for a Highways Maintenance Operative to join our streetlighting team based in Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham.

Location: Thimble Mill Lane, Birmingham, B7 5HR

Hours: Permanent, full time, 45 hours per week

Salary: £32,000 to £35,000 depending on experience and qualifications

Join our friendly streetlighting department at Kier where you'll play a vital role in maintaining essential infrastructure. As part of our welcoming team, you'll contribute to quality excavation work within footpaths, ensuring safety standards while collaborating with colleagues who value your input and support your professional development in a balanced work environment.

What will you be responsible for?

As a Highways Maintenance Operative, you'll be working within the streetlighting team, supporting them in delivering high-quality infrastructure maintenance. Your day to day will include:

• Undertaking excavations in various materials within footpaths, including track work and joint holes

• Assisting with backfill and reinstatement of excavations to meet quality standards

• Completing documentation to comply with health & safety and NERS requirements

• Supporting the team in various tasks, such as serving as safety assistant for live LV cable jointers

• Driving works vehicles and adhering to HSG47 safety protocols

This role of Highways Maintenance Operative is great for you if:

• You have previous experience with excavations and understanding of HSG47

• You're knowledgeable about various streetlighting civils tasks

• You have a full driving licence

• You enjoy collaborative work and building relationships across teams
