Summary
Neway International are seeking a Senior Social Worker – Looked After Children to join our client based with Achieving for Children.
Location: Guildhall Complex (Kingston)
Hours: 36 hours per week
Start Date: 16/02/2026
End Date: (minimum 6‑month cover expected)
Pay Rate: £29.70 PAYE / £39.04 Umbrella
Office Requirement: 3 days per week in Kingston

The Role
The Senior Social Worker will hold a protected caseload of Looked After Children, providing statutory support, care planning, and permanency work. You will lead on complex cases, contribute to care planning meetings, and ensure all statutory responsibilities are met. The role requires strong assessment skills, confident decision‑making, and the ability to work collaboratively with carers, families, and partner agencies.
Key Responsibilities
Manage a caseload of Looked After Children, ensuring all statutory visits, assessments, and reviews are completed.
Lead on complex safeguarding and permanency planning.
Prepare high‑quality reports for court, panels, and multi‑agency meetings.
Work closely with carers, families, health, education, and partner agencies.
Maintain accurate case records in line with statutory and organisational standards.
Provide professional guidance to less experienced staff where required.
Uphold Achieving for Children’s values and deliver child‑centred, trauma‑informed practice.
Candidate Requirements
Professional Social Work qualification (DipSW, BA/BSc/MA Social Work, CQSW).
Registered with Social Work England.
Minimum 3 years’ post‑qualifying experience within a local authority.
ASYE completed (if qualified after September 2012).
Experience working within Looked After Children or similar statutory teams.
Strong assessment, report‑writing, and safeguarding skills.
Enhanced DBS and full compliance documentation, including DfE declarations.
Ability to work 3 days per week in the Kingston office.
Must be able to enter CQC‑registered settings.
