Summary
The post holder will work as a specialised physiotherapy practitioner within a multi-disciplinary Cystic Fibrosis Service with complex patients. To assess, diagnose, provide treatmentandadvicereferringontospecialist servicesasappropriate. Toleadthe planning, co-ordination,deliveryand evaluation of thePhysiotherapyservice alongsideBACFS Directorand Manager. To work collaboratively with theMDTto ensure quality of care is deliveredandinfluence service development. To provide clinical education toother health professionals and students. To undertake research,auditand CPD to ensure that the service being delivered is to the highest possible standard. To be actively involved in the recruitment andselectionof Physiotherapy staff. To provide clinical supervisionandleadership to students and futurerecruitswithinBACFS Physiotherapy. Clinical To work as an autonomous clinical practitioner ensuring an excellent standard of care for the patients in the service that respects their individual privacy and dignity. To undertake the comprehensive assessment of patients witha highly complexpresentation using investigative,judgementaland analytical skills. To be able to accurately diagnose a range of different physiotherapy presentations within the speciality of Cystic Fibrosis. To formulate and implement individualised treatment plans using clinical reasoning and referralpathwaysas necessary. To conduct risk assessment asappropriate duringclinical assessments and treatments. To provide advice and education to relatives,carersand other professionals to promote understanding of condition-related information to ensure valid informed consent is gained. Tomaintainconfidentiality and abide by the Data Protection Act. Personal Topossessadvanced communication skills toworkcollaborativelywith medical,nursing,therapy,pharmacyand psychosocial colleagues. To be able to describe complex pathologies, investigations,diagnosesand treatment options that may be sensitive or contentious to patients/carers in an empathetic and reassuringmanner;appropriate totheir needs and level of understandingin a language understandable to them. Tomaintainthe ability to concentrate and communicate effectively when faced with situations of conflict and high emotion from patients/carers/family and other staff members Tobe responsible formaintainingaccurateand comprehensiveelectronic patient recordsin line with professional body standards of practice and local/national guidelines. General Toparticipatein staff appraisal as an appraiser and appraisee. To develop a personal development plan which reflects the advanced skills and competenciesrequiredto fulfil the needs of this post. To provide teaching to A.H.P, Medical, Nursingstaff and external agencies at undergraduate and post-graduate level. Tohold line management accountability for future CFPhysiotherapyrecruits. To be able to access, understandandpresentaudit datatodemonstrateservice performance. To contribute to clinical and research presentations at regional and national levelfor professional and personal development. To have a breadth of IT skills including Digital Health Professional Todirectlyimplementthe Cystic Fibrosis Standards of Care and NICE guidancerecommendations To critically analyse relevant research on clinical practice to ensure quality evidence-based practice is integrated into the service Tobe responsible forthe continued development of care pathways and protocols for patient management. Todevelop, lead and activelyparticipatein audit. To make and implement recommendations for change in practice. Tomaintainprofessional links with relevant professional and charitable bodies at local and national level through organisation of and attendance at relevant meetings/ conferences. To contribute to the culture of research within the Cystic Fibrosis Service. To publish within peer recognised journals and other relevant publications Tomaintainprofessional links with Line Manager/Therapy Managersregardingwider Trust and professional issues and with otherregional and national CFspecialist services. Tocomply withservice, departmentand Trust policies and procedures.
