Job Description
The Warehouse and Forklift Operator undertakes essential warehouse duties including the safe operation of forklift trucks to move, load and unload goods. The role focuses on efficient handling, storage, and distribution of stock to support the supply chain process. The position requires adherence to health and safety standards and effective coordination with warehouse management to maintain operational flow and accuracy.
Job Duties
• Operate forklift trucks safely and efficiently to move stock within the warehouse and loading areas.
• Load and unload goods from vehicles in accordance with delivery schedules and instructions.
• Receive, inspect, and store incoming stock, ensuring accurate documentation and labelling.
• Prepare and pick orders for despatch, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the warehouse environment to promote safety and efficiency.
• Carry out routine equipment checks and report any defects or maintenance requirements promptly.
• Follow health and safety regulations, including the use of personal protective equipment.
• Assist in stocktaking and inventory control processes as required.
• Communicate effectively with supervisors regarding stock levels, issues, and operational needs.
• Valid forklift operator certification
• Previous experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment is essential.
• Proven track record of safe forklift operation within a busy warehouse setting.
• Comprehensive understanding of warehouse health and safety procedures.
• Ability to operate forklift trucks safely and in compliance with current legislation.
• Competence in handling stock accurately and efficiently.
• Good organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Basic IT skills to use warehouse management systems or handheld devices.
• Physical capability to perform manual handling tasks and work on feet for extended periods.
