Summary
Prospero Teaching is seeking a dedicated Speech & Language Therapist (SALT) to join a specialist provision in Poole, working across two school sites supporting children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. The setting provides a nurturing, creative and therapeutic learning environment where pupils are supported to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.

Role Overview
As the Speech & Language Therapist, you will lead and deliver high‑quality SALT provision across both primary and secondary phases. You will assess pupils' communication needs, design and implement therapy programmes, and work closely with teachers, therapy assistants and senior leaders to ensure pupils receive the support outlined in their EHCPs. This role involves working across two school sites, requiring strong organisation, communication and adaptability.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver specialist speech and language therapy across two school sites
- Provide individual, group, joint and multidisciplinary therapy sessions
- Develop bespoke SALT programmes for implementation by Therapy Assistants
- Lead and support a team of Therapy Assistants
- Provide communication targets for integration into pupils' IEPs
- Attend Annual Reviews, multidisciplinary meetings and staff training sessions
- Maintain accurate clinical records and documentation to a professional standard
- Deliver staff training on recognising and supporting SLCN
- Monitor progress and ensure EHCP outcomes are met
- Maintain HCPC registration and engage in ongoing CPD
Essential Requirements
- HCPC registration
- Degree or postgraduate diploma in Speech & Language Therapy
- Experience supporting children or young people, ideally within SEN or education
- Strong understanding of speech, language and communication needs
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team
- Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills
- Confident in delivering therapy programmes and guiding support staff
- Ability to manage a varied caseload across two sites
- Full driving licence
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service (or willing to apply)
- Right to work in the UK
- Professional references to cover the past 24 months
Desirable
- Experience working with ASC, SEMH or learning disabilities
- Knowledge of Positive Behaviour Support models
- Experience training staff in SALT approaches
- Experience supervising therapy assistants
