Summary

Our client, a forward-thinking educational establishment in the heart of Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Learning Support Assistant to join their team. In this role, you'll be a vital part of our mission to create a nurturing, inclusive environment where every student can thrive, regardless of their unique learning needs or past experiences.

As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll work closely with our teaching staff, providing individualised support to students with special educational needs (SEN), with a focus on trauma-informed practice. Your role will be to assist in the delivery of tailored learning programmes, helping to create a safe and supportive space for our students to grow and develop.

We're looking for someone who is not only skilled in supporting students with diverse needs but also has a deep understanding of the impact of trauma on learning and behaviour. You'll need to be a patient, empathetic, and adaptable professional who can navigate the complexities of working with young people who have experienced adversity.

In this role, you'll be responsible for:
- Providing one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential
- Implementing individualised learning plans and strategies that address the unique needs of each student
- Collaborating with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a cohesive, trauma-informed approach to supporting our students
- Developing positive relationships with students, building trust and creating a safe, nurturing environment
- Monitoring and documenting student progress, and contributing to the evaluation and adaptation of support plans
- Assisting with the delivery of therapeutic and enrichment activities, such as art, music, or outdoor learning
- Promoting the social, emotional, and behavioural development of our students, using trauma-informed techniques to help them regulate their emotions and build resilience

To succeed in this role, you'll need to have a strong background in SEN support, with a keen interest in trauma-informed practices. You should be qualified to at least NVQ Level 3 in Teaching Assistance or a related field, and have previous experience working with children or young people who have experienced trauma or adversity.

In addition to your technical skills, we're looking for someone who is:
- Adaptable and flexible, able to respond to the ever-changing needs of our students
- Excellent at communication, with the ability to build positive relationships with both students and colleagues
- Passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people and committed to their wellbeing
- Organised and detail-oriented, with strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
- Committed to ongoing professional development and a desire to expand their knowledge and skills

We believe that every child deserves the opportunity to reach their full potential, and we're dedicated to creating an environment that supports and nurtures their growth. As a Learning Support Assistant, you'll be a crucial part of this mission, working alongside our talented team to make a lasting impact on the lives of our students.

If you're excited by the prospect of joining our dynamic, supportive community and making a real difference in the lives of young people, we'd love to hear from you. The salary for this full-time position is £14.30 - £16.00 per hour, and we offer a range of benefits to support your professional and personal development.

To apply, please submit your CV and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and passion for the role. We look forward to hearing from you and discussing how you can contribute to our client's vision for a brighter future.
