Ourdepartment isseeking a well motivated resident doctor to gain to gain both clinical and surgicalexperience in Obstetrics and Gynaecology within a teaching hospital setting.

This post supports the candidate to gain experience in the Royal College of Obstetrics and Gynaecology core curriculum. Education supervisor is provided and the post holder will be encouraged to engage with the eportfolio to document training competencies.

The day-to-day clinical responsibilities will form the significant part of the training offered. All doctors are expected to undertake audit and to make contribution to the weekly departmental academic teaching programme. Department will provide essential training such as PROMPT/ CTG study day/ MED2.

The successful candidate will participate in the on call rota providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a three- tier system. Other regular clinical sessions include antenatal clinic, gynaecology clinic, maternity triage, maternity day assessment unit and theatre session.

Applicants should have completed MRCOG Part 3 and registered with the GMC.

The postholder will work under both direct and indirect supervision of consultants. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team are essential.Thesuccessfulcandidateshoulddemonstratecompassiontowardspatients,alongwith strong time management and organisational skills.

With a new hospital planned for Watford, work underway to update theatres at St Albans City Hospital and plans for a neighbourhood healthcare centre in Hemel Hempstead, this is an exciting time to join us.
