Hours: 38 hours per week, Monday to Thursday 08:00-16:00, Friday 08:00-14:00
Salary: £25,000 - £28,000

Reporting to: Head of People, Nuclear & Defence

The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly organised and proactive Onboarding Coordinator to join our clients growing People Team supporting our Nuclear & Defence operations at Devonport. This is a pivotal HR-focused role responsible for ensuring a seamless and compliant onboarding journey for candidates entering a highly regulated environment.

Experience within Devonport Dockyard is highly desirable however, proven recruitment and onboarding experience outside of the dockyard environment is essential. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing the Security Clearance processes and supporting SC and 9 Dock bookings, ensuring operational readiness and compliance at every stage.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR or recruitment professional who thrives in a structured, process-driven environment and is confident managing high volumes of documentation, compliance checks, and stakeholder liaison.

Main Purpose of the Role

To coordinate and manage the onboarding process for approved candidates, guiding them through Security Clearance and pre-employment checks through to their start date, in line with client requirements. The role works closely with internal resourcing teams, business operations, and the on-site client who oversees Screening and Vetting processes.

Key Responsibilities

Coordinate candidate onboarding from approval through Security Clearance to start date.

Liaise with the on-site client regarding Screening and Vetting processes.

Support candidates with BPSS pack completion, ensuring accuracy and completeness of documentation.

Proactively chase outstanding information and manage onboarding pipelines effectively.

Provide administrative support for SC and 9 Dock bookings.

Maintain accurate onboarding trackers and HR systems.

Process weekly starters and leavers, issuing relevant documentation and maintaining accurate records.

Administer new starter packs, contracts of employment, right-to-work documentation, and equal opportunity records.

Maintain accurate and compliant employee electronic files.

Book site visitors in accordance with operational requirements.

Work alongside the Training Department to schedule mandatory training for new starters.

Support recruitment and selection activities for weekly and monthly paid positions.

Deliver inductions for weekly and salaried employees where required.

Assist with wider HR initiatives and ad hoc projects.

Uphold company policies, procedures, and professional standards at all times.

Skills and Experience



Essential:

Demonstrable experience in recruitment and onboarding administration.

Strong organisational and administrative skills, with the ability to manage complex documentation.

Ability to work autonomously and prioritise workload effectively.

Confident stakeholder engagement skills, building credibility across departments.

Understanding of HR principles and employment law.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and HR systems.



Desirable:

Experience working within Devonport or a highly regulated environment.

Knowledge of working rule agreements and unionised environments.

Relevant HR qualification (or working towards).

Administration or business support qualification.
