Summary


An exciting fixed-term opportunity to cover maternity leave has arisen for a Clerical Officer to join the Breast Imaging Admin Team based in the Breast Care Centre at Ipswich Hospital. This post will provide essential administrative support to both the NHS Breast Screening Programme in East Suffolk and the symptomatic breast imaging service.
You will play a key role in supporting the smooth running of breast imaging services, working closely with the administration and wider clinical teams to help deliver a high-quality, patient-focused service.

This is a fixed term post from 11/05/2026 - 26/02/2027

Internal applicants currently employed by ESNEFT will be offered on a secondment basis only.

• Respond to telephone enquiries from members of the public, national screening offices, hospital staff, and internal and external stakeholders, handling all calls sensitively and professionally and referring on when appropriate
• Make and amend appointments for breast imaging, assessing the appropriate appointment type and booking into the correct clinic
• Assess eligibility for women who self-request screening in line with national screening criteria
• Follow the “Right Results” protocol to ensure accuracy and safety within the screening process
• Use a range of computer systems including EPIC, NBSS, BS Select and PACS
• Provide reception cover for both screening and symptomatic imaging clinics, remaining sensitive to the needs of patients and service users
• Communicate effectively on a daily basis with staff and service users


About You
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a clear, confident telephone manner
• Highly organised, with proven clerical and administrative ability
• Able to work under pressure and as part of a busy team
• Experience of hospital would be advantageous, although full training will be provided
