Summary
Carry out programmes of care and treatment determined by others. Manages clinical caseload on a day-to-day basis including making minor modifications within prescribed parameters reporting back to the Clinical Nurse Specialist and/or Consultant Rheumatologist. Provides advice in relation to the care of individual or groups of patients. Liaises with other nursing staff caring for clients within the specialty to provide enhanced knowledge to optimise patient care. Demonstrates a commitment to best practice and relevant knowledge of the NHS and modernisation agenda, seeking to develop the service as part of the professional team. Deliver education programmes to patients, carers and other nursing staff as agreed by the Clinical Nurse Specialist. Act as a role model exploiting at every opportunity to enhance the knowledge of others in issues relating to the specialism. Provides advice that contributes to the care, well-being or education of patients/clients including health promotion. Participates in research and audit as part of the multi-professional team within the specialism. Ensure that high quality data is collected for both audit and research trials, as required. In support of the Clinical Nurse Specialist, develops protocols of care and implements evidence-based practice. To provide clinical advice to patients suffering from Rheumatological disease, to ensure that patients are fully aware of treatment options available to them so that they can make informed decisions. To provide education and advice, to enable patients to adapt to lifestyle changes and enhance their well-being.
