Summary

We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated Research Assistant to join the Gonococcal Vaccine Project at the Jenner Institute, University of Oxford. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge vaccine research focused on addressing the global challenge of gonorrhoea.

You will join the Gonococcal Vaccine Research Programme led by Susanne Hodgson and will play a key role in supporting laboratory-based aspects of clinical trials and immunological research. With the support of the Seniors, you will be responsible for laboratory-based aspects of clinical trials including laboratory analysis plan preparation, SOP development, and processing and management of clinical trial samples. You will liaise with clinical trials sites and provide training and support where necessary. You will also support murine immunogenicity studies within the group by processing samples of performing immunoassays with appropriate support and training.

It is essential that you hold a degree in a relevant biological subject (or equivalent) with a keen interest in gonorrhoea and/or vaccinology and the immunology of infectious diseases. You will be self-motivated, technically competent and capable of working in independently in a laboratory. You are also able to interpret scientific data, analyse data and write factual reports. Excellent organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously are essential.
