Are you looking to develop your experience in a range of urban and rural planning issues? This is a Career Graded role that goes up to Senior Planning Officer level that will enable you to develop your skills and experience, allowing you to progress in your role with us in our friendly and proactive Development Management Section.
Your main responsibilities upon joining us as a Planning Officer will be the processing, determining and dealing with a range of planning applications and associated consents, including providing pre-application advice on proposed applications, assessing, preparing and presenting reports on planning applications and handling relevant appeals. As a pro-growth authority there is plenty of opportunities to get involved with housing, retail, leisure and employment developments.
Explaining every step of the planning process to our customers is vital to our success, and your achievements will be based not only on your ability to do your job but also on putting customer service at the heart of everything you do.
Our offices are located in Rugby Town Centre and there is also the opportunity to work from home for some of the time during the working week.
About you
You will need to have a professional qualification such as in Town Planning Degree or similar qualification (or be close to achieving such a qualification), knowledge of the current planning legislation with relevant experience of planning work either in a local authority or private practice in the UK, as well as possessing excellent communication and advisory skills.
A driving licence and access to a vehicle for business use is essential.
