Ready to impact a better future?

As a Security and Car Parking Officer in our Forth Valley Royal Hospital team, you’ll help maintain a safe, welcoming, and secure environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues. Your work will play a vital role in keeping the hospital running smoothly — and ensuring everyone on site feels supported, protected, and reassured.
Every day, you’ll contribute to a safer hospital community by responding calmly to unpredictable situations, supporting vulnerable individuals, and upholding our commitment to delivering a compassionate, professional service. It’s purposeful work that helps impact a better future for everyone who depends on this essential facility.

What you’ll do as a Security and Car Parking Officer

You’ll be entrusted to:

- Provide a visible and reassuring security presence across all hospital areas, supporting a calm and safe environment for patients, visitors, and colleagues.
- Deliver a polite, efficient, and compassionate car parking service, ensuring compliance with NHS Forth Valley and Serco car parking policies.
- Assist in searches for missing patients using CCTV, collaborate with emergency services, and help return individuals safely.
- Respond as a first line to violent or aggressive behaviour, using appropriate restraint techniques when required to protect others.
- Monitor security systems, medical alarms, CCTV equipment, and follow data protection legislation and site procedures.
- Manage daily car park operations, ensuring access for emergency vehicles and addressing policy infringements appropriately.
- Undertake internal and external patrols, checking wards, corridors, closed areas, and high‑risk zones to maintain site security.

Does this sound like you?

You’ll be a great fit for this role if you have:

- A valid, in‑date SIA Licence (Security Guarding and Door Supervision, plus CCTV).
- A calm, focused approach with the ability to work under pressure and respond professionally to unpredictable situations.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to support people with care and empathy.
- Experience using monitoring systems and the confidence to work independently while following procedures.
- The ability to manage difficult or sensitive interactions with discretion and resilience.
This role requires membership of the PVG Scheme, which involves a detailed check of spent and unspent convictions and other relevant information to ensure safeguarding compliance. You will also complete an Occupational Health Questionnaire so we can provide any necessary support to help you carry out your responsibilities.

- Pension: Up to 6% contributory pension scheme
- Training and development: Over 1,100 internal courses available, funding for qualifications and apprenticeships (including L3 Team Leader and L5 Operations Manager apprenticeships), mentoring opportunities, and a focus on internal progression
