Join our dedicated team of Rehabilitation Support Workers at Archer Unit. We are looking for motivated and compassionate individuals to support patients in their recovery within our Rehabilitation Unit.

As a Rehabilitation Support Worker, you will work as part of a multidisciplinary team delivering high-quality, person-centred care. This role requires flexibility to work shifts, including days, nights, weekends, and Bank Holidays.

All new starters complete a comprehensive induction and receive ongoing pastoral and technical support from our Recruitment and Education Support Assistants (RESA). You will also be supported to achieve your Care Certificate, ensuring you have the skills and knowledge to provide safe and compassionate care.

After completing your induction and six-month probationary period, you will be enrolled onto our development programme to help you progress and thrive in your role.

Support and training package includes:
• Six-day induction programme
• Two-week supernumerary period with support from colleagues
• Local induction to learn department procedures
• Regular contact and support from RESAs during your first weeks

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse/Nursing Associate and the therapy team, you will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care. This includes assisting with personal care and delegated clinical tasks, supporting mobility, rehabilitation exercises and safe transfers, and maintaining effective communication with the wider team.

Development Programme

ACE– CSWs/RSWs are automatically enrolled 6–12 months into the role. This three-day course is based on the Trust’s THRIVE values, covering teamwork, civility, patient experience, resilience, wellbeing, and a quality improvement project.

BEACH– Also completed 6–12 months into the role, focusing on improving the recognition and escalation of care for critically ill patients.

Care Certificate– Mandatory for all non-registered clinical support workers employed by the NHS since 2015. It includes the Practice Assessment Document (PAD) and 15 ESR modules. Full support is provided throughout.

Disability Awareness Training– Completed 6–12 months into the role, covering visual and hearing impairments, frailty, hidden disabilities, learning and physical disabilities.

Additional Support– Two-week supernumerary period, local induction, and competency-based training to ensure you feel confident and supported in your role.

Job Summary:

The post holder will work within an integrated, multi-professional inpatient team, delivering care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, Physiotherapist, Occupational Therapist, and the Ward Manager. The role involves supporting rehabilitation interventions for a diverse range of patients.

You will provide high-quality care to patients requiring rehabilitation and sub-acute support within a physical health inpatient unit. This includes patients stepping down from acute hospital settings and those stepping up from the community to prevent acute hospital admission.

The post holder will report to the Senior Nurse in charge during weekends and overall to the Ward Manager, ensuring services are delivered safely, effectively, and efficiently.

You will contribute to the delivery of high-quality care across a seven-day service, meeting the individual needs of patients. The role also includes supporting the induction of junior colleagues and providing guidance where appropriate.
