An exciting opportunity to join a busy and progressive local authority in Hertfordshire to help them lead their Development Management and Planning Enforcement services. Located close to Greater London, the authority faces several development pressures. The postholder would line manage a number of team members, and be responsible for their development, as well as ensuring their day-to-day work is carried out to the highest of standards. The postholder will play their part in delivering sustainable development, whilst maintaining Broxbourne as an attractive place to live, work and visit.
If you are an experienced manager of people or have strong planning experience and are looking for your first steps into a management role, then we would like to hear from you.
You should be organised, enthusiastic, committed and motivated. You must be able to work efficiently under your own initiative and effectively in partnership with planning colleagues, developers, agents, elected Members and other stakeholders to support the Development Management service. You will be confident using common IT applications such as Microsoft Office and you will have good attention to detail.
The ability to analyse development proposals, review and appraise officer reports, drive excellent performance, and communicate both verbally and in writing are essential requirements of the post. You should be able to converse at ease with members of the public and provide advice in fluent English. A current full driving licence and the ability to undertake site visits and inspections are a requirement of the post.
Interviews will be held in person on 19 and 20 March at the Council offices at Bishops’ College, Cheshunt. Shortlisted applicants will be advised of the dates of interviews as well as details of an assessment to be completed on the day.
