Skills, Knowledge and Experience

We are seeking a candidate with excellent customer service and communication skills, who demonstrates a flexible, positive, and proactive approach to a variety of situations.

While previous security experience is desirable, we are looking for someone who is eager to learn, committed to personal development, and passionate about contributing to the safety and well-being of our university community.

Full driving licence required.

Qualifications

Essential:

SIA Door Supervisor license
SIA CCTV Operative license (or to be obtained during probation period - full training given to the right applicant)
First Aid at Work Certificate (or to be obtained during probation period - full training given to the right applicant)
Department

Whilst fulfilling the core responsibilities of a Security and Community Safety Officer, this post at the University of Northampton places a emphasis on enhancing the student experience and delivering exceptional customer service and support. Whether students are studying, working, or living on campus, you will ensure their environment is safe, and be welcoming, and supportive.

As a front-line representative, your ability to provide professional and approachable service is key. You’ll support a range of activities including:

Managing site access and safety
Assisting with evidence retrieval
Collaborating with the Residential Life Team to promote a safe living environment
You’ll also work closely with the University Police Team (UPT) and take part in specialist training and scenario-based exercises, such as:

Water rescue
Fire investigations
First aid response
