Working within the rota team, the post holder will provide comprehensive administrative support for the production and running of medical on-call rotas within the Medicine Department.
The post holder will provide a comprehensive, quality, confidential administration service in support of the Rota. Key requirements of the post are to proactively co-ordinate and troubleshoot the junior medical staff rota, ensuring that sufficient doctors are available to provide a ward and emergency on-call service. The successful candidate will be expected to organise their workload and co-ordinate their activities in conjunction with, and supervised by, the Rota Co-ordinator to ensure that an efficient service is provided. It is essential that the post holder is able to exercise initiative suitable to the role and is fully supportive to other colleagues

• Support with the co-ordination of the Medicine on-call rota. Also, the Resident Doctor’s annual leave approval/recording process in line with Standard Operating Procedures ensuring that there are no gaps in service provision. Be responsible for the recording of annual leave, study and professional leave in support of the Service Manager.
• Continually monitor the on-call rotas for any upcoming gaps or potential issues and to escalate these to the coordinator
• Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures and guidelines related to own service.

• Ensure compliance with Trust policies, procedures and guidelines, taking action/alerting senior management team if practice appears to contravene policy, or if concerned about any aspect of patient care.
• Support the Rota Coordinator/ Manager by ensuring that staff induction, orientation, and mandatory training take place according to Trust policy.
• To provide support with maintaining and updating the TEMPRE system. Ensuring all claims are submitted on time.
• To support the amendment of on call rotas in a timely fashion to reflect leave, swaps, sickness absence or any other reasons requiring amendment of on call rotas ensuring each individual department lead is aware of sickness.
• To undertake any other Administration duties across the Medicine Group of a similar nature consistent with the responsibilities of the post to provide a quality service.
