University College London Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (UCLH) is seeking an experienced and motivated Band 7 NIPE Lead Midwife to lead the delivery of the Newborn and Infant Physical Examination (NIPE) screening programme at the Elizabeth Garrett Anderson Maternity Unit.


This is a key leadership role with responsibility for coordinating and delivering a high-quality, compliant NIPE service in line with national screening standards. You will provide expert clinical leadership, ensure robust failsafe systems are in place, oversee performance against national KPIs, and support the education and development of midwives and medical staff undertaking NIPE examinations.

The successful candidate will be a registered midwife and qualified NIPE practitioner, with strong leadership skills, excellent communication, and a commitment to family-centred, evidence-based care. You will be confident working autonomously while collaborating closely with multidisciplinary teams across maternity, neonatal services and screening programmes.
