Summary
What skills and experience we're looking for
The governors of Holy Rood Catholic Primary School wish to appoint a hardworking, enthusiastic person with the highest of standards to be the caretaker for our school. This is a varied role which would suit someone with good practical skills who takes pride in what they do. You must be able to manage your own workload and also liaise with other staff and contractors professionally with regards to the maintenance and improvement of the school. The successful candidate will work in close partnership with the Headteacher, Office Manager, staff, parents and governors to help develop our school, sharing our vision and aims to drive the school forward.
Under the direction of the Headteacher or designated member of SLT, and in accordance with the practices and procedures of the school, you will ensure that the premises and its contents are appropriately maintained, secured and fit for purpose. Some cleaning may be required at times.
The role involves being responsible for the security of the premises and its contents, along with Health and Safety. This will include the role of key holder, and the operation of fire and intruder alarms. You will undertake non specialised DIY repairs and decorating as well as oversee minor premises improvement projects and deal with contractors.
Experience of some regulatory testing and contractor management for maintenance and repairs would be advantageous, although full training will be provided for legionella monitoring, asbestos monitoring, fire alarm testing etc. You will be expected to access training where required.
You will have good general handyman skills with experience and knowledge of Health and Safety requirements in a working/educational environment. You must be computer literate.
