Are you a creative and passionate teacher who inspires students through the art and science of cooking? Moreton School is seeking an enthusiasticTeacher of Food Technologyto join our thriving Design and Technology faculty. Students study Food at KS3 and progress to the WJEC Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering at KS4, a practical, industry-focused qualification equivalent to a GCSE.

You will deliver engaging practical and theory lessons that help students develop confidence, independence, and curiosity about healthy living and the wider hospitality industry, working closely with the subject lead and wider team to implement the existing curriculum. This post is suitable for experienced teachers and ECTs; a strong programme of support and mentoring is available for those at the start of their career.

Key Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver high-quality, engaging lessons in Food at KS3 and WJEC Hospitality and Catering at KS4, following established schemes of learning.
• Inspire students to develop practical cooking skills, creativity, and understanding of nutrition, sustainability, and food provenance.
• Teach key aspects of the hospitality and catering industry, including types of provision, food safety, and customer needs, in line with the WJEC specification.
• Prepare students for successful outcomes in external assessments and controlled assessment tasks that form the Level 1/2 Award.
• Maintain high standards of food safety, hygiene, and classroom organisation in specialist food rooms.
• Use assessment information to monitor progress, provide feedback, and support students to achieve their targets.
• Work collaboratively with colleagues in Design and Technology to contribute to resources, moderation, and shared planning.
• Support the wider life of the school through food-related clubs, events, or enrichment activities as appropriate.
• Engage fully in professional development and contribute positively to the ethos and expectations of the school.

Required Qualifications and Experience

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with a specialism or strong background in Food Technology, Hospitality and Catering, or a related discipline.
• Excellent subject knowledge and practical expertise in food preparation, nutrition, and healthy lifestyles, alongside an understanding of the hospitality and catering industry.
• Proven ability to engage and motivate learners from diverse backgrounds, including those with additional needs.
• Effective classroom and kitchen management skills.
• Strong teamwork, communication, and organisational skills.
• Commitment to promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.

Desirable Qualities

• Experience of delivering the WJEC Level 1/2 Vocational Award in Hospitality and Catering or a similar vocational food qualification.
• Experience in contributing to curriculum development and assessment within a team.
• Ability to support extracurricular food-based activities, showcases, or community events.
• A proactive and reflective approach to teaching and professional growth.
