Your new school
Ripplevale School and College, is a thriving independent special school, for 170 students aged 6 to 25 years old, located in the historic town of Rochester. As part of the Ripplevale family of schools, we provide a holistic, child centred approach to meeting the needs of our students, most of whom have an Education and Health Care Plan. Identified needs may include Autism Spectrum Disorder, dyslexia, speech, language and communication difficulties, DCD, sensory, and high levels of anxiety.
Your new role
As an SEN Teacher, you will play a central role in planning and delivering engaging, differentiated lessons that meet the varied needs of pupils with Autism, Dyslexia and other additional needs. You will teach across curriculum areas, adapting your approach to individual learning profiles and working closely with colleagues, external agencies and families to monitor progress and maintain detailed pupil profiles.
Your work will include developing lesson plans, maintaining behaviour expectations through positive reinforcement, and contributing to curriculum development and whole‑school projects. You will assess learning, report on progress, and participate in professional development, standardisation meetings and training to support both your practice and that of colleagues.
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful, you'll need experience teaching pupils in Key Stages 2-4 and the ability to adapt learning effectively for those with SEND. A strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Conditions and/or Dyslexia is essential, alongside confident classroom management and a commitment to holistic, person‑centred teaching. You will be comfortable working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, contributing to assessments, attending meetings, and supporting teaching assistants and trainee instructors. A proactive approach to professional development and a strong commitment to safeguarding are also key.
What we're looking for
- Be passionate about teaching and committed to support pupils with diverse needs.
- Have experience or the ability to teach across a range of key stages.
- Be flexible, resilient, and a strong team player.
If you are ready to embark on a rewarding career and make a lasting impact, we would love to hear from you!
