Summary

Senior Design Engineer

Location: Nottingham

Salary: £48,000 - £55,000

Are you an experienced Design Engineer with strong CNC machining knowledge? This is an excellent opportunity to step into a senior role where you'll work directly with customers and lead complex design projects from initial concept through to completion.

About the Role

As a Senior Design Engineer, you will take ownership of technical design activities and collaborate closely with internal teams and customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Meet with clients to understand mechanical applications and project requirements.
  • Produce detailed mechanical designs using 3D CAD software (Siemens NX or SolidWorks).
  • Conduct simulations and virtual tests to validate and refine designs.
  • Document design processes, iterations, and test data clearly and accurately.
  • Manage project timelines, resources, and client communication.
  • Liaise with clients, designers, engineers, and manufacturing teams for seamless delivery.
  • Create technical reports, specification documents, and operational manuals.
  • Stay updated on relevant engineering trends and technologies.

About You

Requirements

  • Experience in a sales-related engineering role.
  • 3+ years of engineering experience, ideally with strong CNC machining knowledge.
  • Proficiency in Siemens NX or SolidWorks.
  • Solid understanding of engineering and design principles.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong organisational and time‑management abilities.
  • High attention to detail.
  • A mechanical engineering degree is desirable but not essential.
