We're looking for Credit Controllers to join our Finance team within our wider Co-op Business Services (CBS) organisation. CBS is made up of a number of diverse teams dedicated to delivering high-quality, reliable and cost-effective business services across our Co-op. You'll play a key role in helping CBS to support and realise our group vision of 'co-operating to build more value for member-owners every day'.
Why this role matters
Our Credit Control team is a huge part of what keeps our business running smoothly. In this role, you'll be looking after the Funeralcare sales ledger, helping us stay on top of payments and making sure we hit our cash collection targets.
It's a B2C (business to customer) role, so you'll be speaking directly with families and customers, which means compassion, clear communication, and a genuinely professional approach are key. If you're someone who can balance sensitivity with confidence, you'll fit right in.
What you'll do
* Provide a customer service and credit control function to make sure that sales ledger accounts are collected promptly via telephone, email and letter
* Handle a high volume of inbound calls as customers respond to messages and reminder letters as well as making outbound calls
* Conduct payment negotiations with empathy, discretion and accuracy with families during emotional times and in some cases where the debts are very aged
* Maintain an accurate record of collection actions making sure that all notes and payment promises are documented
* Resolve queries, liaising with funeral homes and making sure payments align with company terms
* Review Dunning Letters for despatch
* Make sure that unallocated cash is kept to a minimum checking weekly reports provided by banking team.

* Experience in a credit control environment
* A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
* Good Microsoft Excel skills
* Great communication, negotiation and problem-solving ability
* Excellent customer service skills, maintaining an empathetic approach to customers at all times
* An open mind, willing to accept and adopt new processes/procedures.
