The Role

This newly created role will work closely with the Housing Advice Team to lead on the effective management, renewal, and negotiation of contracts that support the delivery of high quality accommodation and housing related support services across Tameside.

You will take responsibility for ensuring all contracts remain compliant, value for money, and aligned to service needs. While the post is primarily office based, you will work closely with local providers, partners, and communities to maintain strong working relationships that underpin the delivery of Tameside’s Homelessness and Rough Sleeping Strategy.

About You

You will be a confident, knowledgeable professional with the ability to negotiate and manage high value, complex contracts covering both technical requirements and pricing structures.

Experience within a local authority or housing/support services environment, particularly in contract management or procurement, is highly desirable.

You will be an effective communicator with a proven ability to build and maintain strong partnerships that support contract delivery and shared outcomes.

You will be comfortable working independently, navigating procurement rules, contract cycles, and renewal processes with accuracy and timeliness.

Strong IT skills are essential to support robust contract monitoring, performance tracking, and document management.

You will bring confident negotiation skills and an understanding of current housing market pressures, along with knowledge of the challenges facing local authorities.

The ability to produce high quality reports and present complex contractual information to a range of audiences is vital, as is an understanding of local authority financial and procurement processes.
