Scotnet has been providing high quality broadband and phone services to Scotland and across the UK for over 25 years. From our offices in Inverness we offer a comprehensive range of services to meet the needs of all user types from private homes through to large organisations and the public sector.
As well as providing a comprehensive range of services delivered via Openreach, we also own and operate several alternative (usually wireless) networks in areas where the Openreach delivered services are poor.
Scotnet.co.uk is looking to appoint a full-time technical support officer; primarily to be involved in the delivery of the above services.
The job has a wide remit and - after on-the-job training - we expect the job to include many computer/network related tasks:
* configure DSL routers
* configure wireless ubiquiti type equipment - both for CPE and for core network
* handle a small number of telephone/email technical support enquiries
* have or obtain a basic understanding of unix/linux systems - for example to configure network and routing
* any experience in programming would be a significant bonus
Formal qualifications are not required. A decent telephone manner together with a technical ability in computing are essential.
We are a unix/cisco house and - apart from supporting customer - we have no microsoft systems in our network.
The job is based in an underground WW2 bunker in Inverness. The hours are 9-5 Mon-Fri. Home working is not an option as we may need equipment to be configured at short notice.
We may - in emergencies - ask for out-of-hours support. There is no extra pay for this, but time-in-lieu will be offered.
Salary will be by negotiation.
Please submit a CV to jobs@scotnet.co.uk with a subject line that include the string "TSO"
