The Role

Gonville & Caius College is seeking a Communications Officer to play a key role in delivering College communications, with specific communications responsibility for alumni publications and specific fundraising events, such as Giving Day. This is a great opportunity for a dynamic and creative individual, who is equally at home with digital and social as well as traditional print communications.

The successful candidate will be a motivated self-starter, stimulated by a varied role. Working closely with the Head of Communications, the post holder will lead on alumni communications, including as Editor of Once a Caian… magazine. The post-holder will also work closely with colleagues in the Development Office and the Editor of the College record.

Educated to degree level or equivalent, the ideal candidate will have strong interpersonal and organisational skills, as well as exceptional writing skills. High level of accuracy and attention to detail are essential. Good artistic and technical skills in photography and video would be an advantage.

Salary for the full-time role (37.5 hrs) is £31,000. Part-time hours would be considered.

The Communications Office

The Communications Office is responsible for external and internal communications, with a global and local audience. Agility and dynamism is needed in a varied and lively department which deals with media enquiries, liaising with external stakeholders and partners, writing and editing publications, sharing fundraising initiatives and telling the stories of the impact of giving, as well as operational notices and maintenance of the College website and intranet.

The College

Gonville & Caius College is one of the largest Colleges in the University of Cambridge. It is an educational charity, and its mission is to provide a place of education, religion, learning and research, in conjunction with a University that is recognised internationally as being of the highest standard.

The College is an academic community comprising some 530 undergraduate students, 250 graduate students, and 110 Fellows (lecturers, professors and other senior academic researchers and teachers) and almost 200 staff. It plays a significant role throughout the University. Our students come from all over the world and our undergraduates study all the subjects offered in the University.
