Summary

About the role

In this role, you will translate strategy into meaningful action, ensuring plans are delivered effectively and to a high standard. You typically lead and/or support key projects and act as a subject matter expert. You are responsible for shaping and delivering the overall Online strategy, as well as driving a range of strategic initiatives that support Online in achieving its North Star ambition.

You will be responsible for

  • Creating documents and briefings for senior stakeholders on key strategic topics related to rapid delivery and the evolving strategic direction of Whoosh.
  • Managing and supporting projects that define new strategic direction for Whoosh, using insights from customer behaviour, market trends, commercial performance, and opportunities to drive sales and profit growth.
  • Delivering and optimising strategic projects, including stakeholder management, programme management, and overseeing financial performance to meet long‑term and annual business plans.
  • Analysing internal and external data to identify trends and business opportunities.
  • Conducting market analysis to understand best practice and translating this into the Tesco context.
  • Developing financial models and case studies to assess the potential value and long‑term growth of opportunities.
  • Evaluating the potential ROI of strategic propositions against agreed metrics to support prioritisation of business and technology plans.
  • Collaborating effectively with teams across Finance, Fulfilment, Customer, Technology, Commercial, and wider Online Development.

You will need

  • An understanding of Online business models and economics.
  • Strong strategic thinking, proposition development capability, and analytical skills.
  • The ability to bridge strategic thinking with practical, real‑world implementation.
  • Strong project management and stakeholder management skills.
  • Good commercial acumen and sound commercial judgement.
  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills.
  • Advanced analytical skills, including working with broad and varied stakeholder groups.
  • A track record of effective joint business planning and delivery of cross‑functional initiatives.
  • Experience in strategy formulation, business development, or corporate development within rapid delivery, Online, or retail environments.
