Plus Distant Islands Allowance of £2,578* per annum
(*Salary and Distant Islands Allowance as of 1 April 2026)
We are looking to recruit to the Hotel Services Department, Generic Support Workers.
The purpose of these roles is to maintain a clean, safe working environment for all areas of NHS Shetland in line with NHS Scotland national standards. You will be one of a team of staff providing Domestic, Catering & Laundry services. Working hours as well as weekdays this post includes evenings and weekends when required. Night and weekend shifts will attract enhanced salary enhancements.
We are looking for candidates with good communication skills who are able to work flexibly under pressure. Initial training and induction takes place in the first few days of starting post, then support from other colleagues will be provided until the new post holder is fully competent in all areas of work, there relevant paper work and procedures. A driving licence is essential as you may be required to cover areas out with the Hospital.

As from 01/04/2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
