Summary


An exciting opportunity has arisen for a full time Junior Clinical Fellow within the Stroke Medicine department at UHCW.

This is a ward basedmedical Junior Clinical Fellow position and successful candidates will be exposed to the medical management of stroke patients.

The successful applicant will join a team of FY1s, FY2s other Junior Clinical Fellow doctors, Senior clinical Fellow doctors, 8 consultants as well as specialist stroke nurses and a stroke co-ordinator.

The stroke unit (ward 41) has 12 hyper acute/rehabilitation beds. The stroke service lies within the Department of Neurosciences. We admit around 1400 stroke patients a year and run a dedicated 24/7 thrombolysis service.

A dedicated 1one stop' acute TIA clinic runs 7 days a week supported by a daily, on site carotid ultrasound service and MRI scanning. Over 95% of high-risk patients are seen within 24 hours of referral.

Clinical responsibility for assisting in the investigation, diagnosis and treatment under consultant supervision.

Expected to attend consultant ward rounds; present cases and discuss the differential diagnosis and management; carry out appropriate practical skills with patients.

Responsible for maintaining a full clinical record of patients admitted to the ward; required to produce a written summary of the admission at the time of discharge; will participate in audit data collection and attend clinical governance/audit meetings.
