Summary
We are looking for a caring, reliable and enthusiastic Personal Assistant to support out lovely 8-year-old boy with Autism, Hypermobility, and Global development delay.
He is a gentle, calm and loving child who enjoys deep pressure cuddles, music and swimming. He has some non-verbal cues and someone who is intuitive, patient would work well with him.
Key Responsibilities:
· Taking him to sensory-friendly and social activities in the local community
· Providing support with toileting (still in nappies)
· Ensuring his safety at all times, especially when in public. (he may run off or try to each no-food items)
· Encouraging his interests and helping him access more of the world around him
· Support with feeding and drinking needs Drinks from a bottle (comfort for him) and needs finger food or cut up food.
This is not a list of everything that I may ask you to do. I may ask you to do similar sorts of tasks which are not listed above. Providing that my request is reasonable, I expect you to follow my instructions.
The ideal candidate will have a full clean driving licence and access to a vehicle, experience with children with additional needs. Be someone who is calm, friendly and confident in working 1-1. Engage him in physical play e.g swimming. Learn his non-verbal communication and build a good relationship with him.
The hours that we can offer are 4 hours in Term time and 8 hours in Non Term Time with an hourly rate of pay of £12.21. 4 weeks paid holiday (pro rata) plus bank holidays is applicable, as is access to a workplace pension.
This role is subject to a cleared enhanced DBS check, which is provided.
