Are you a strategic thinker with a passion for removing barriers to education? We are seeking an experienced Attendance Manager to lead our attendance team, driving high standards of punctuality and engagement while providing the high-level data analysis that underpins our school improvement strategies.
About WPT
At Wickersley Partnership Trust (WPT), we are fueled by a single commitment: 'We never knowingly do less for other people’s children than we would for our own.' As a thriving network of schools across South Yorkshire, we combine high expectations with embedded inclusivity. We do not work in silos; instead, we rely on deep collaboration and school-to-school support to ensure every student develops socially, emotionally, and academically to achieve the highest standards.
About the Role
As Attendance Manager (Admin Level 4), you will take strategic ownership of the academy’s attendance function. This is a leadership role where you will manage the administrative team, oversee complex casework, and ensure that our systems are robust and compliant with the latest DfE legislation. You will not just be processing data; you will be analysing it to identify trends, advising the Senior Leadership Team on statutory changes, and implementing strategies to reduce persistent absence. You will act as the expert lead, ensuring that accurate data informs our decisions and that families receive the right support at the right time.
Responsibilities
Strategic Leadership: Contribute to the planning, development, and organisation of attendance systems, procedures, and policies to ensure they are efficient and in line with current legislation and quality standards.
Data Analysis & Reporting: Manage information systems to analyse and investigate complex attendance data; produce detailed reports for the Senior Leadership Team and Governors to inform management decisions and intervention strategies.
Complex Casework: Provide advice and guidance to support colleagues, pupils, and families by resolving complex attendance issues, including managing legal proceedings and formal parental meetings.
Compliance: Provide advice to the senior team on legislative and regulatory changes (such as DfE statutory guidance) to ensure the academy remains fully compliant.
Team Management: Provide day-to-day supervision of the attendance administrative staff, including monitoring and allocating work, and assisting with staff development to ensure service standards are maintained.
Resource Management: Monitor and manage stock and resources within an agreed budget, undertaking audits as required to ensure the team has the necessary tools to work effectively.
Health & Safety: Monitor the work environment to ensure it meets Health and Safety requirements and that the correct equipment is used, and report risks when necessary.
Administrative Oversight: Undertake a range of complex administrative duties, ensuring adherence to Trust regulations and the integrity of student data.
The successful candidate must hold an NVQ Level 3 (or equivalent) and have significant experience in attendance management or a senior administrative role within education.
