Summary
Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Practice Deliver general nursing services including wound care, Leg ulcer care and dressing, removal of sutures/clips, and ECG recording Administer childhood and adult immunisations and vaccinations in accordance with national guidelines Undertake cervical cytology (if trained) Perform NHS Health Checks and other screening activities Conduct blood tests and other routine clinical procedures Provide contraceptive advice and sexual health support (where competent) Chronic Disease Management Manage patients with long-term conditions in line with NICE and local guidance Run chronic disease clinics including: Asthma management (preferable experience) COPD management (preferable experience) Diabetes Hypertension Cardiovascular disease Perform spirometry/FENO (if trained) Provide inhaler technique assessment and optimisation Support QOF achievement through structured reviews and accurate clinical coding Health Promotion and Patient Education Provide lifestyle advice including smoking cessation, weight management, and physical activity Support self-management strategies for patients with long-term conditions Deliver personalised care planning Clinical Governance and Quality Maintain accurate, contemporaneous clinical records using the practice clinical system Participate in audit, quality improvement initiatives, and infection prevention and control processes Work within NMC Code of Professional Conduct and practice policies Maintain professional registration and CPD requirements Team Working Work collaboratively within the nursing and wider multidisciplinary team Support junior staff and healthcare assistants where appropriate Participate in practice meetings and training events Essential Criteria Registered Nurse (Adult) with current NMC registration Experience working in primary care, community, or outpatient settings Competency in immunisations and vaccination delivery Experience managing long-term conditions Strong organisational and communication skills IT proficiency and experience using electronic patient record systems Desirable Criteria Experience in asthma and COPD management Spirometry qualification Independent Prescriber qualification Cytology training Experience working towards QOF targets
