Do you have a proven track record supporting secondary aged early learners with additional needs in a mainstream setting?
A highly regarded special school located in the Holloway area is seeking an experienced and committed Teaching Assistant to join their dedicated team.
This is an excellent opportunity to make a genuine impact within a nurturing, well-established school community known for its strong ethos of inclusion and pupil wellbeing.
The Role You will work with a class of secondary-aged learners with SEN, supporting their academic, social and emotional development within a mainstream classroom environment.
This role requires confidence, initiative and a proactive approach to behaviour support.
The Successful Candidate Will:
- Have at least 6 months of classroom experience in a similar setting
- Demonstrate strong experience supporting early learners and pre-verbal pupils
- Be confident managing and de-escalating challenging behaviour
- Show a consistent track record of positive outcomes for children with additional needs
- Be a passionate advocate for inclusion within mainstream education
- Remain calm, patient and solution-focused under pressure
- Providing consistent 1:1 and group support for learners with SEN
- Safeguarding pupils and promoting their wellbeing at all times
- Monitoring and managing behaviour in line with school policy and individual IEPs
- Anticipating triggers and proactively facilitating movement or sensory breaks
- Delivering differentiated learning activities as directed by the class teacher
- Supporting the wider classroom as required
