Summary
This is a post giving the appointee the opportunity to develop skills in using transvaginal ultrasound for the diagnosis and management of early pregnancy problems, acute gynaecology and general gynaecological problems. The post holder will be engaged in working in the Early Pregnancy and Gynaecology Assessment Unit and will be given full training in the use of transvaginal ultrasound in the diagnosis and management of gynaecological conditions. This includes rapid access, endometriosis, paediatric gynaecology and recurrent miscarriage clinics. They will also have the opportunity to take part in research projects involving the use of ultrasound in the non-invasive assessment of gynaecological disorders. The post involves provision of a morning weekend service in the Early Pregnancy Unit approximately one weekend in five. There is no on call commitment. The successful candidate should have attained at least the competencies required by the end of ST4 year of obstetrics and gynaecology, part 2 MRCOG or equivalent and full GMC registration and have two years experience of working as a doctor in the NHS.
